China and Belgium Strengthen Bilateral Ties in Strategic Brussels Meeting

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo convened in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss the enhancement of bilateral and China-Europe relations.

Ding, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted that under the strategic leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Belgian officials, the China-Belgium all-round friendly cooperative partnership has achieved substantial progress.

He underscored the necessity of building political mutual trust, expanding collaboration in sectors such as economy, trade, science, technology, and green initiatives, as well as reinforcing cultural and people-to-people exchanges. These efforts aim to further develop China-Belgium relations and deliver greater benefits to the citizens of both nations.

Emphasizing that China and Belgium share common goals in opposing protectionism and upholding free trade, Ding expressed his hope that Belgium will play a constructive role in deepening practical cooperation between China and Europe and in managing economic and trade differences.

Prime Minister De Croo reaffirmed Belgium's commitment to its relationship with China, stating that Belgium adheres to the one-China principle. He also expressed Belgium's willingness to enhance communication and deepen exchanges and cooperation across various fields with China to promote the sustainable development of Belgium-China and Europe-China relations.
