Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Malaysia's East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Gombak integrated terminal station alongside Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday.
Premier Li expressed gratitude to the dedicated builders from both nations, emphasizing that the ECRL stands as a flagship project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. He expressed confidence that the project would be constructed with excellence, efficiency, safety, and reliability, setting a benchmark for Belt and Road initiatives.
The ECRL is expected to not only serve as a vital transportation artery in Malaysia but also to drive development, create employment opportunities, and enhance the livelihoods of the people.
Premier Li reiterated China's commitment to collaborating with Malaysia to ensure that the ECRL becomes a pathway to prosperity and well-being for the populace.
He also highlighted China's readiness to work with Malaysia in linking the ECRL with the China-Laos and China-Thailand railways, advancing the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and contributing to enhanced regional connectivity and the deepening of the ASEAN community.
