The Chinese mainland and the United States engaged in \"candid and in-depth\" talks on June 14 to enhance bilateral counter-narcotics cooperation. Chinese Ambassador to the United States, Xie Feng, met with U.S. Director of National Drug Control Policy, Rahul Gupta, to discuss strategies based on mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit.
Addressing the fentanyl issue, Ambassador Xie emphasized that fentanyl is neither a problem originating from the Chinese mainland nor manufactured by it. He highlighted that, driven by humanitarian considerations, the Chinese mainland has been assisting the U.S. within its capacity to tackle the fentanyl crisis, demonstrating significant efforts and sincerity in cooperation.
Ambassador Xie called upon the U.S. to meet the Chinese mainland halfway by addressing and resolving the concerns raised by the Chinese side. This collaborative approach aims to foster a positive environment for future cooperation in counter-narcotics efforts.
