China Calls on U.S. to Cease ‘Unacceptable’ Smears Over Ukraine Crisis

In a recent statement at the United Nations, China's Deputy Permanent Representative, Geng Shuang, urged the United States to stop using the Ukraine crisis as a pretext to disparage China.

Geng emphasized that the U.S. has been spreading false claims that China supports Russia's war efforts in Ukraine, labeling such actions as \"unacceptable.\" He clarified that China is neither the originator of the Ukraine crisis nor a participant in the conflict.

Highlighting China's commitment to peace, Geng stated that China has consistently advocated for a political settlement and peace talks to resolve the crisis. He assured that China has not supplied lethal weapons to any parties involved and has maintained strict control over dual-use items.

Addressing economic relations, Geng pointed out that the trade and economic cooperation between China and Russia adhere to World Trade Organization (WTO) and market regulations. He asserted that this cooperation is not aimed against any third party and aligns with international law.

Geng also compared the situation by noting that U.S.-Russia trade has continued uninterrupted since the onset of the war, dismissing allegations against China as mere exaggeration meant to divert attention and create divisions.

Concluding his remarks, Geng called on the United States to cease using the Ukraine issue to tarnish China's reputation and to stop imposing unilateral sanctions and unreasonable restrictions on Chinese businesses. He further urged the U.S. to take genuine and positive steps towards ending the war and restoring peace.
