In a robust response, China has officially condemned the United States' latest sanctions targeting more than 300 Chinese entities and individuals. These sanctions, announced by the U.S. Treasury Department, are accused of aiding Russia's military production in its conflict with Ukraine.
Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, emphasized that China firmly opposes any illegal unilateral sanctions and long-arm jurisdiction. \"The normal economic and trade exchanges between China and Russia should not be interfered with, nor should it become a tool to smear and contain China,\" Lin stated during a regular press briefing.
Highlighting the broader implications, Lin criticized the unilateral sanctions as having caused significant global harm. He pointed out that such measures undermine the sovereignty and security of nations, lead to humanitarian crises, and destabilize global supply chains.
Since the escalation of the Russia-Ukraine crisis, U.S. sanctions have intensified. Lin argued that these indiscriminate sanctions not only fail to resolve the underlying issues but also introduce substantial risks to global stability.
Reiterating China's position, Lin affirmed that China is neither a creator nor a party to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and will not accept any attempts to deflect blame or tarnish its reputation.
