In a significant move to bolster bilateral relations, China and Indonesia held high-level dialogue cooperation mechanism talks in northeast China's Jilin Province on Thursday. Representing China, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, engaged in discussions with Indonesia's Coordinator for Cooperation with China, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.
Wang Yi emphasized China's commitment to leveraging the cooperation mechanism to deepen all-round strategic ties, with a focus on building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future. He highlighted the importance of establishing a model of major developing countries' relations based on high-level strategic mutual trust, multi-field complementarities, and synergistic development.
The discussions also outlined plans for the next stage of high-level exchanges, aiming to consolidate strategic mutual trust and steadfastly support each other's core interests and major concerns. Wang called for intensified collaboration on the Belt and Road Initiative, expanding partnerships in the digital economy, green development, and livelihood improvement, while also promoting maritime cooperation.
Echoing these sentiments, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan expressed Indonesia's willingness to enhance synergy between its Global Maritime Fulcrum vision and China's Belt and Road Initiative. He underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation in areas such as maritime, fishery, healthcare, artificial intelligence, food security, and green energy.
This high-level engagement between China and Indonesia signifies a deepening of strategic relations, with both nations poised to collaborate closely on initiatives that drive economic growth, technological innovation, and sustainable development.
