Chinese Premier Li Qiang Embarks on Asia-Pacific Tour to Strengthen Ties

Chinese Premier Li Qiang is set to undertake official visits to New Zealand, Australia, and Malaysia from June 13 to 20, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian.

Invited by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon of New Zealand, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia, Premier Li aims to bolster diplomatic and economic relations across the region.

During his Australia visit, Premier Li will co-chair the ninth China-Australia Annual Leaders' Meeting alongside Prime Minister Albanese. This meeting underscores the ongoing collaboration and mutual interests between the two nations.

This tour marks several significant anniversaries, including the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping's successful state visits to New Zealand and Australia, as well as the decade-long establishment of China-New Zealand and China-Australia comprehensive strategic partnerships. Additionally, 2023 celebrates the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, highlighting the strong friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Premier Li's visits come at a crucial time as nations in the Asia-Pacific region navigate global economic shifts and seek to strengthen multilateral partnerships.
