China Calls on EU to Halt Anti-Subsidy Probe into Chinese EVs

A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday urged the European Union (EU) to stop its anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) as soon as possible to avoid damaging China-EU economic and trade cooperation and the stability of industrial and supply chains.

Spokesperson Lin Jian made these remarks during a regular press briefing in response to a query about the EU's recent anti-subsidy probe into Chinese EVs.

Lin stated that China has reiterated its position multiple times, asserting that the essence of the EU's investigation is trade protectionism.

He highlighted that the EU’s investigation involves many unreasonable and non-compliant practices, adding that the alleged Chinese subsidy project they are accusing is simply untenable.

Lin concluded by warning that China will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests if the EU side insists on continuing its current course.
