China Urges South Korea to Exercise Caution on Taiwan and South China Sea

The Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Korea (ROK) has called on South Korea to exercise caution regarding the Taiwan question and the South China Sea issue. A spokesperson emphasized the importance of maintaining stable China-ROK relations amidst recent diplomatic activities.

Highlighting recent consultations between South Korea's deputy foreign ministers and defense ministers with the U.S. and Japan, the spokesperson criticized remarks made by the ROK as interfering in China’s internal affairs. These actions, according to the spokesperson, have violated China’s sovereignty and core interests.

China reaffirmed that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory and stressed that the Taiwan question is a purely internal matter, free from external interference. The spokesperson underscored that the one-China principle is fundamental for peace across the Taiwan Straits and essential for China’s relations with other nations.

Furthermore, the spokesperson warned against claims of maintaining peace across the Taiwan Straits without adhering to the one-China principle, suggesting such positions align with separatist forces seeking Taiwan independence. China asserted its strong determination to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
