In a significant move to enhance global connectivity, China and Kuwait have agreed to further promote Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation. The accord was reached during a meeting between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya in China, coinciding with the 10th ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed China's appreciation for Kuwait's active role in fostering solidarity and cooperation between China and Arab nations. He emphasized China's support for Kuwait's increasing involvement in international and regional affairs.
Wang highlighted that China is prepared to collaborate with Kuwait to implement the key agreements made by both leaders. The cooperation will span various sectors, including renewable energy, sewage treatment, investment, new energy, digital economy, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, both nations aim to strengthen cultural and people-to-people exchanges, deepening the strategic partnership between China and Kuwait.
Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya stated that the relations between Kuwait and China are currently at their highest point in history. He described China as a long-term and reliable strategic partner and expressed Kuwait's eagerness to enhance high-level exchanges, jointly advance Belt and Road cooperation, and expand economic, trade, and investment ties.
Al-Yahya also acknowledged China's just stance on the Palestinian issue and affirmed Kuwait's commitment to promoting cooperation between Arab states and China to achieve greater outcomes.
