In a significant move towards reshaping global dynamics, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the need for China and Russia to unite and foster the growth of the Global South.
Speaking at the China-Russia High-level Think Tank Forum via video link, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the importance of both nations taking a leading role in global governance. He stressed the necessity of upholding the United Nations at the core of the international system and maintaining an international order rooted in international law.
Wang advocated for strengthening multilateral coordination and cooperation, aiming to promote a multipolar world and true economic globalization through genuine multilateralism. He urged China and Russia to support each other, adhere to open cooperation, and engage in exchanges to learn from one another.
Moreover, Wang Yi called for both countries to uphold the principles of non-alliance and non-confrontation, ensuring that they do not target any third parties. He emphasized the importance of deepening political mutual trust to foster a stable and cooperative relationship.
The forum, organized annually since 2018 by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Russian International Affairs Council, focused this year on China-Russia cooperation in the new era and celebrated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
