China and Egypt Commit to Building a Shared Future in Strategic Partnership Talks

In a significant move to strengthen bilateral relations, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Beijing on Wednesday. The leaders emphasized their commitment to building the China-Egypt community with a shared future in the new era.

President Sisi is on a state visit to China from May 28 to 31, during which he is set to attend the opening ceremony of the 10th ministerial meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum. This visit marks a pivotal moment in reinforcing the longstanding ties between the two nations.

Highlighting the enduring partnership, President Xi recalled that 68 years ago, Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. He stated, \"Despite changes in the international situation, the two countries have always trusted each other, cooperated sincerely and developed hand in hand.\"

This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Egypt. President Xi noted that their bilateral relations exemplify China’s solidarity and win-win cooperation with Arab, African, Islamic, and developing countries.

Calling for a dynamic relationship, President Xi urged both nations to enhance mutual trust and promote cooperation. He affirmed China’s readiness to work with Egypt to contribute to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world.

Addressing the challenges in the Middle East, President Sisi expressed Egypt’s desire to deepen its comprehensive strategic partnership with China and collaborate on promoting regional peace and stability. He reaffirmed Egypt’s adherence to the one-China principle and support for China's positions on Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xizang, human rights, and other core interests.
