Bu Tsamjo, a team leader at a local Tibetan medicine company, was honored with the May Day national labor medal this year. Her journey reflects the broader modernization efforts that have reshaped the production of Tibetan medicine.
In the early days, manufacturing and packaging of Tibetan medicine were predominantly manual processes. Today, advancements in mechanization and automation have revolutionized the industry, enabling the company to package up to 38,000 pills daily. This shift not only increases efficiency but also ensures higher standards of quality and consistency.
A white paper released last November by the State Council Information Office highlights that Xizang is home to 49 public institutions dedicated to Tibetan medicine. Additionally, as of early 2022, 94.4% of township health centers and 42.4% of village health clinics in the region offer Tibetan medicine services. This widespread accessibility underscores the commercialization and standardization of Tibetan medicine production.
Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, Xizang has witnessed significant progress in various sectors, including economic growth, improving people's livelihoods, environmental protection, and the preservation and development of Tibetan culture. Today, businesses across the snow-covered plateau are thriving, and individuals from all ethnic groups in Xizang enjoy equal opportunities for development.
