Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has voiced strong opposition to the unilateral sanctions imposed on Belarus by the U.S. and other Western nations. Speaking on Monday during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Aleinik in Astana, Kazakhstan, Wang emphasized China's stance against what it considers illegal external interference in Belarus's internal affairs.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted China's support for the Belarusian people's chosen path of development. He called for mutual support on international and multilateral platforms to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of both nations, promoting international fairness and justice.
The Chinese Foreign Minister urged both countries to enhance coordination within international and regional mechanisms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and BRICS. He reaffirmed China's willingness to collaborate with Belarus in implementing the important consensus reached by their leaders, deepening Belt and Road Initiative cooperation, and maintaining close collaboration in international affairs.
In response, Sergei Aleinik expressed Belarus's readiness to strengthen development strategies with China, aiming for strategic mutual trust, political cooperation, and common economic growth. Aleinik also affirmed Belarus's support for China's positions on key issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, Xizang, and the South China Sea.
