88% in Latin America, Caribbean View Taiwan as Inalienable Part of Chinese Territory

A recent survey conducted by CGTN has revealed that over 88 percent of respondents in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) consider the Taiwan region an inalienable part of Chinese territory. Additionally, 87 percent believe that LAC countries should sever their diplomatic ties with Taiwan and establish formal relations with the Chinese mainland.

The survey, which encompassed 6,406 participants from the LAC region, aimed to assess their understanding of the Taiwan question. A significant majority expressed support for the Chinese government's efforts in implementing unification policies, highlighting China's \"strategic patience\" as an effective approach to promoting peaceful unification.

Respondents emphasized the importance of avoiding external interventions, particularly from the United States, which they believe could exacerbate tensions in the Taiwan Strait. Instead, they advocated for adhering to diplomatic efforts and peaceful means to resolve the Taiwan question.

Furthermore, the survey highlights the respondents' call for fostering closer economic and cultural ties between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. By strengthening these connections, they believe that long-term peace and stability can be achieved in the region.
