China Strengthens Ties with Tajikistan through Economic Support

In a significant move to bolster regional cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Tajikistan this past Saturday in Dushanbe. During his meetings with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Wang Yi pledged China’s active support for Tajikistan’s development strategies and economic improvement.

Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the strong foundation established during Rahmon's state visit to China last year. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to building a China-Tajikistan community with a shared future, emphasizing everlasting friendship, solidarity, mutual support, and benefit.

“China will continue to firmly support Tajikistan in pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions and firmly oppose external interference in Tajikistan’s internal affairs,” Wang Yi stated. He assured that China remains a trustworthy friend and partner to Tajikistan, regardless of changes in the international landscape.

President Rahmon echoed these sentiments, noting the significant progress made since the China-Central Asia Summit. He emphasized that enhancing relations with China remains a top priority for Tajikistan’s foreign policy. Rahmon also affirmed Tajikistan’s unwavering adherence to the one-China principle, recognizing Taiwan as an inalienable part of China.

The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in key sectors such as economy and trade, energy, minerals, transportation, agriculture, green industry, and artificial intelligence. Both leaders expressed a commitment to jointly combat the “three forces” and strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Additionally, Wang Yi expressed China’s willingness to enhance security cooperation with Tajikistan to fight terrorism and strengthen coordination within multilateral platforms like the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. These efforts aim to protect the interests of both nations and contribute to regional and global stability.

The visit also included talks with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, further solidifying the collaborative efforts between the two countries.
