The Communist Party of Vietnam has officially nominated To Lam, the current Minister of Public Security, to serve as the country's next state president. At 67 years old, Lam has held his position since April 2016 and is a member of the Politburo.
Alongside Lam's nomination, the party has also put forward Tran Thanh Man as the new assembly chairman. Man, 62, has been serving as the National Assembly's permanent vice chairman since April 2021 and is also a Politburo member.
The National Assembly, Vietnam's legislative body, is slated to vote on these recommendations during its upcoming session set to begin on Monday.
