In a recent briefing at the United Nations in New York, China's permanent representative to the UN, Fu Cong, underscored the significance of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in advancing global cooperation and sustainable development.
Fu emphasized that the CIIE serves as a vital platform for sharing development opportunities among nations. By enabling some of the world's least developed countries to showcase their products in China, the expo not only drives investment and industrial growth but also supports the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The briefing was held in anticipation of the upcoming seventh CIIE and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum. Fu highlighted that the forum aims to seek innovative solutions for sustainable development, scientific innovation, food safety, and the digital and energy transition. These objectives are closely aligned with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, reinforcing the commitment to fostering a more sustainable and cooperative global economy.
Through initiatives like the CIIE and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, China is actively participating in multilateralism and South-South cooperation, striving to create a more inclusive and resilient global community.
