Peng Liyuan, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, recently visited Serbia and Hungary to emphasize the significance of cultural exchange and educational cooperation in strengthening people-to-people bonds.
Building Bridges for Dialogue Among Civilizations
In Serbia, Peng visited the National Museum of Serbia on Wednesday. She highlighted that museums are not only vital for preserving and showcasing cultural relics but also play a crucial role in promoting civilization. Peng expressed her hope that cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Serbia would deepen, fostering bridges for dialogue among different civilizations.
To support these initiatives, the China Cultural Center in Belgrade, a collaborative effort between China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the provincial government of Shandong, recently opened its doors. Spanning 6,000 square meters, the center offers classes in Chinese language, traditional musical instruments, Chinese calligraphy, and tai chi, providing a comprehensive platform for cultural learning and exchange.
Promoting Education Cooperation
During her visit to the Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school in Budapest on Thursday afternoon, Peng encouraged students to diligently learn the Chinese language and culture. She expressed her wish for students to have opportunities to visit or study in China, thereby contributing to the enduring friendship between China and Hungary.
Accompanied by Aniko Levai, Hungary's First Lady, Peng observed classes focused on Chinese language and traditional cultural practices such as paper cutting and calligraphy. She also took the time to engage with the students, fostering a sense of mutual understanding and appreciation.
