In a heartwarming display of international friendship, Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Aniko Levai, wife of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, visited the Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school in Budapest on Thursday. The visit aimed to encourage students to continue inheriting and promoting the strong China-Hungary friendship.
During their visit, Peng and Levai observed Chinese language classes and engaged in traditional Chinese culture sessions, including paper cutting and calligraphy. Their presence fostered a lively and engaging atmosphere, allowing for meaningful interactions with the students.
Peng highlighted the significance of the school as a symbol of China-Hungary friendship, expressing her pleasure at the students' proficiency in Chinese. She encouraged them to diligently learn the language and immerse themselves in Chinese culture, with hopes that many would visit or study in China in the future.
The duo also watched a video showcasing the school's 20-year development and enjoyed various student talent displays, such as dance, poetry recitation, and chorus performances. These activities underscored the school's commitment to providing a comprehensive bilingual education.
As a gesture of goodwill, Peng presented the school with a collection of books introducing Chinese culture, further enriching the students' learning resources.
Established in 2004, the Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school is a fully bilingual public institution offering instruction in both Chinese and Hungarian, catering to a diverse and globally minded student body.
