Chinese President Xi Jinping declared that China-Hungary relations have reached their best in history during his state visit to Budapest on Thursday.
Speaking at the Sandor Palace, Xi emphasized the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations and highlighted the fruitful cooperation across various fields. He engaged in talks with Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok, reinforcing the comprehensive strategic partnership that has evolved over decades.
Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Xi praised Hungary for being one of the first countries to recognize New China in 1949. He pointed out that since establishing ties, both nations have respected each other, treated each other as equals, and pursued mutual benefits.
Xi expressed his commitment to fostering a strong working relationship with Sulyok, aiming to increase exchanges and collaborations on matters of mutual interest. He stressed the importance of adhering to mutual trust and assistance, supporting each other's sovereignty, security, and development interests.
Highlighting the independence of their friendship, Xi stated that the China-Hungary relationship is neither targeting nor dictated by any third party. He advocated for win-win cooperation, upholding fairness and justice, and standing on the right side of history.
