China’s Xi Calls for Peace in Middle East and Ukraine

In a significant meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping reiterated China’s commitment to resolving global conflicts through peaceful negotiations.

Xi emphasized China's support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, advocating for lasting peace in the Middle East. He called for an immediate, comprehensive, and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza, highlighting the conflict as a test of human conscience that demands international action.

On the Ukraine crisis, Xi clarified that China is not a party to the ongoing conflict but has been actively involved in promoting peace. He mentioned that China’s special representative on Eurasian affairs has embarked on his third round of shuttle diplomacy efforts to facilitate a political settlement between Russia and Ukraine.

Xi stressed the importance of resuming engagement and dialogue among all parties to build mutual trust. He proposed holding an international peace conference at an appropriate time, ensuring equal participation and fair discussions on all peace plans. Additionally, Xi voiced China’s opposition to attempts that use the Ukraine crisis to scapegoat other nations or to ignite a \"new Cold War.\"

Highlighting the need for a balanced and sustainable security architecture in Europe, Xi underscored China’s role in fostering global stability and peace through diplomatic initiatives.
