Chinese Embassy in Canada Denies Accusations of Election Interference

On Friday, the Chinese mainland's embassy in Canada expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to allegations of interfering in Canada's internal affairs. The spokesperson addressed claims made by Canada's Foreign Interference Commission, which accused several countries, including China, Russia, and India, of meddling in Canada's 2019 and 2021 general elections.

The embassy spokesperson categorized the accusations as baseless, labeling them as a tactic by certain Canadian politicians to shift blame for their electoral challenges. They emphasized that China has consistently upheld the principle of non-interference in other nations' internal matters.

Furthermore, the spokesperson criticized the commission's report for being riddled with contradictions, ideological bias, and a lack of credibility. They highlighted the use of ambiguous terms such as \"may,\" \"might,\" and \"potential,\" and pointed out that the intelligence cited in the report has not been fully corroborated or assessed.

The Chinese embassy also addressed Canada's record concerning issues related to China's core interests, including Taiwan, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong. The spokesperson urged Canadian authorities to respect the facts and abandon any ideological biases in their assessments.

\"As a nation, we have never meddled in Canada's internal affairs, nor do we have any intention to do so,\" the spokesperson concluded.
