Chinese Coast Guard Expels Philippine Vessels from Huangyan Dao Waters

The Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) took decisive action on Tuesday, expelling a Philippine Coast Guard ship and an official vessel for intruding into the waters adjacent to Huangyan Dao in the South China Sea.

Gan Yu, a spokesperson for the CCG, emphasized that the operation was conducted professionally, legitimately, and lawfully. He stated that the CCG, acting in accordance with the law, employed necessary measures, including the use of a water cannon, to remove the Philippine vessels from the contested waters.

According to Gan, the Philippine vessels' presence infringed upon China's sovereignty and violated international law, as well as the basic norms of international relations. He urged the Philippines to immediately halt such actions.

\"China indisputably holds sovereignty over Huangyan Dao and its adjacent waters, as well as sovereign rights and jurisdiction over relevant maritime areas,\" Gan affirmed. He added that the CCG will continue to enforce law in waters under China's jurisdiction, resolutely safeguarding the country's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
