China Responds to Japan’s Provocative Actions Over Diaoyu Islands Dispute

In a significant escalation of tensions, China has lodged formal representations against Japan’s recent actions near the Diaoyu Islands. According to a spokesperson from the Chinese embassy in Japan, the moves by Japan have been deemed as infringements and provocations.

The China Coast Guard has taken necessary law enforcement measures to safeguard its rights, emphasizing adherence to national laws. The incident revolves around five members of the Japanese National Diet, including Tomomi Inada, the acting secretary general of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. These members were part of an \\"investigation group\\" organized by the Ishigaki city government and entered the waters near the Diaoyu Islands for inspections, with intentions to go ashore for further investigation.

China firmly asserts that the Diaoyu Dao and its affiliated islands are its inherent territory. The spokesperson reiterated China’s unwavering commitment to defending its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.

In response to Japan’s actions, China strongly urges adherence to the four-point principled agreement between the two nations. The spokesperson called for an immediate halt to political provocations, on-site disturbances, and public sensationalism. China advocates for a return to constructive dialogue and consultation to manage disputes and differences properly, cautioning against any further escalation of the situation.
