At the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang underscored the pivotal role of innovation in driving the nation's development.
Ding, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted how China's strategy of innovation-driven development has led to significant breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation. This approach has fostered new industries, business models, and growth drivers, marking a significant highlight in the country's economic and social progress.
The Vice Premier emphasized the importance of Zhongguancun in advancing high-level scientific and technological self-reliance. He envisions Beijing evolving into an international hub for scientific and technological innovation through the continued development of Zhongguancun, advocating for pilot reforms and the acceleration of constructing a world-class science and technology park.
China is committed to collaborating with the international community to implement principles of "open, fair, just and non-discriminatory" international cooperation in science and technology. Ding called for the creation of a global science and technology community, urging collective efforts to build an open innovation ecosystem. This collaboration aims to cultivate new quality productive forces and address major scientific and technological challenges.
This year's forum, themed "Innovating for a Better World," saw the participation of around 1,000 scientific and technological professionals from across the globe, along with business leaders, government officials, and representatives from international organizations.
