China and Kazakhstan Forge Strategic Partnership for a Golden 30 Years

In a significant move towards strengthening bilateral ties, China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with Yerlan Koshanov, speaker of the Mazhilis, Kazakhstan's lower house of parliament, in Beijing on Thursday.

Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, highlighted that the relationship between China and Kazakhstan has advanced to a permanent comprehensive strategic partnership, envisioning the next \"golden 30 years\" of collaboration.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as tourism, education, sports, and sub-national levels. Both leaders emphasized the importance of supporting each other's core interests, deepening practical cooperation, and promoting high-quality Belt and Road initiatives.

Zhao also stressed the need to continue taking effective measures to facilitate trade and enhance connectivity, as well as strengthening partnerships in combating separatism, extremism, terrorism, and transnational organized crime.

Furthermore, both sides showed commitment to advancing the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, aiming to safeguard true multilateralism.

Koshanov expressed Kazakhstan's support for China's core interests and major concerns, reaffirming backing for the aforementioned global initiatives. He also highlighted Kazakhstan's readiness to deepen cooperation within the Belt and Road framework and to enhance legislative exchanges with China's NPC.
