China and Cambodia have taken significant steps to deepen their partnership, aiming to build a high-level community with a shared future in the new era. During the seventh Meeting of the China-Cambodia Intergovernmental Coordination Committee held in Phnom Penh, Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee, emphasized the importance of consolidating political trust and expanding comprehensive cooperation between the two nations.
Wang highlighted key projects such as the \"Industrial Development Corridor\" and the \"Fish and Rice Corridor,\" which are expected to drive economic growth and enhance connectivity. The ongoing Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative have been pivotal in boosting Cambodia's economic and social development through increased Chinese investment and expanding trade relations.
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol expressed enthusiasm for the meeting, noting its significance as the first of its kind under Cambodia's new government. He commended the growing investment from China and the mutual benefits arising from bilateral cooperation.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the China-Cambodia free trade agreement, promoting the export of high-quality Cambodian agricultural products to China, and encouraging further investment from Chinese enterprises in Cambodia. They also outlined plans to enhance defense cooperation, combat transnational crimes, and increase tourism and cultural exchanges, particularly among young people.
As China and Cambodia continue to strengthen their bilateral ties, they are also pledging to collaborate on regional platforms such as the Lancang-Mekong cooperation and China-ASEAN cooperation, aiming to foster regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
