Gabon and China Celebrate 50 Years of Partnership: A Win-Win Cooperation

In a momentous celebration of half a century of diplomatic relations, Gabon and China are reaffirming their commitment to a mutually beneficial partnership. Gabonese Foreign Minister Regis Onanga Ndiaye emphasized the success of their win-win cooperation during a seminar marking the 50th anniversary of their bilateral ties.

Held last Friday, the seminar was attended by over 150 representatives, including Zhu Xiaole, charge d'affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Gabon, along with Gabonese Minister of Media and Communication Laurence Ndong and Minister of Water and Forests Maurice Ntossui Allogo.

Minister Onanga highlighted the dynamic and rich nature of Gabon-China relations, particularly after the two nations elevated their relationship to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership last year. \"The Gabonese government welcomes this level of cooperation with China, which in recent years has become one of the major players in the economic development of African countries,\" he stated, urging both countries to continue strengthening their South-South partnership for shared prosperity.

Chinese representative Zhu Xiaole noted the high complementarity between the two economies, mentioning that China has been Gabon's largest trading partner for 11 consecutive years since 2013. He highlighted the significant investments made by Chinese companies across various sectors in Gabon, which have created jobs and spurred local economic and social development.

The seminar, themed \"Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between China and Gabon: Opportunities and Prospects,\" was jointly organized by the Gabonese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy in Gabon. This event underscores the enduring and evolving collaboration between Gabon and China, paving the way for future growth and innovation.
