China Champions Palestine’s Bid for Full UN Membership

The Chinese mainland has reiterated its strong support for Palestine's aspiration to become a full member of the United Nations. In a statement released on Friday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized its commitment to fostering a ceasefire in Gaza and advancing the two-state solution.

Despite the United States exercising its veto power to block Palestine's full UN membership at the Security Council, China remains steadfast in its efforts to support Palestinian statehood. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian highlighted the significance of Palestine's UN membership as a crucial step towards realizing the long-held dreams of the Palestinian people.

\"The establishment of an independent state has been the enduring wish of the Palestinian people for generations, and formally joining the UN is a key step in this historical process,\" Lin stated. He expressed disappointment over the U.S. veto, which he described as a setback to the Palestinian quest for recognition.

Lin also underscored the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza. He called on the international community to adhere to relevant UN resolutions, respect the will of the Palestinian people, and return to the path of the two-state solution to establish an independent Palestinian state promptly.
