China and Indonesia have reached a broad consensus to enhance pragmatic cooperation, aiming to build a China-Indonesia community with a shared future. This agreement was solidified during the Fourth Meeting of the China-Indonesia High-Level Dialogue Cooperation Mechanism.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and Indonesia's Coordinator for Cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan exchanged in-depth views on strengthening bilateral ties.
Wang emphasized that China views Indonesia as a key partner for development and cooperation, fostering a strategic and long-term relationship. He highlighted China's commitment to advancing modernization alongside Indonesia, leveraging the high-level dialogue to build a higher quality China-Indonesia community.
The collaboration will focus on deepening the synergy between China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Indonesia's development strategies. Key projects include the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor, and the \"Two Countries, Twin Parks.\" Additionally, cooperation will expand in the digital economy, green development, and improving people's livelihoods, injecting new momentum into high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
Wang called for joint opposition to unilateralism and protectionism, advocating for the defense of legitimate development rights and the safeguarding of the international economic and trade order.
Luhut highlighted that China is Indonesia's largest trading partner and a major source of investment, noting the vast potential for future cooperation. He expressed optimism that the strengthened ties will benefit both nations and contribute positively to the peace, stability, and prosperity of the Asia Pacific region.
The two leaders agreed to enhance inter-departmental connections, ensure effective project implementation, and achieve greater results in their comprehensive strategic cooperation.
