US Senate Votes to Adjourn Mayorkas Impeachment Trial Amid Party Divide

The U.S. Senate on Wednesday voted along party lines to adjourn the impeachment trial of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, ending the Republican-driven efforts to remove the Biden administration's top border security official.

The upper chamber adjourned the impeachment trial by a narrow vote of 51-49 after the two articles against Mayorkas were dismissed on constitutional grounds. Democrats maintained that the charges did not constitute \\"high crimes and misdemeanors,\\" a threshold required for impeachment.

This decision marks a significant moment in the ongoing political tussle between the Republican and Democratic parties, highlighting the deep partisan divide on issues related to border security and the administration's policies.
