In a significant move towards strengthening bilateral ties, Wu Demin, deputy director-general of the Department of Consular Affairs at China's Foreign Ministry, met with Angela Kerwin, deputy assistant secretary of the Bureau of Consular Affairs of the U.S. State Department, in Beijing on Tuesday.
The discussions focused on fostering people-to-people exchanges and ensuring the safety and legitimate rights of overseas citizens from both China and the U.S., as stated by China's Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the Chinese mainland emphasized the importance of the U.S. adjusting its travel advisory for China promptly. Additionally, China urged the U.S. to cease what it described as unwarranted harassment, interrogations, and deportations of Chinese citizens.
This meeting marks a continued effort by both nations to address and resolve issues affecting their citizens abroad, promoting a more cooperative international environment.
