China and Indonesia Strengthen Strategic Partnership in Jakarta

The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi in Jakarta on Thursday, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.

During the official visit, Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized China's commitment to building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future. He highlighted the importance of deepening strategic mutual trust and implementing the comprehensive strategic partnership action plan to elevate bilateral ties to new heights.

Wang Yi expressed China's support for Indonesia in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He reaffirmed China's willingness to robustly support each other's core interests, fostering a strong foundation for bilateral cooperation.

The Foreign Minister urged both nations to synchronize their development strategies and enhance practical cooperation under the high-quality Belt and Road initiative. He emphasized the potential for Chinese enterprises to invest and operate in Indonesia, while also expressing China's readiness to increase imports of high-quality Indonesian products to meet market demands. Wang Yi also called for Indonesia to maintain stable and predictable commodity export policies to create a favorable environment for Chinese businesses.

Furthermore, Wang Yi highlighted China's intent to collaborate closely with Indonesia in promoting the high-quality development of China-ASEAN relations. He underscored the importance of consolidating the ASEAN-led regional architecture and maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea.

Retno Marsudi echoed the sentiment, stating that the Indonesian government highly values its relationship with China and firmly adheres to the one-China policy. She expressed Indonesia's eagerness to continuously strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership, enhance economic and investment cooperation, jointly combat transnational crimes like telecommunication fraud, and ensure peace, stability, and security in the region.
