China Urges Australia to Reevaluate Strategic Intent Amid New Defense Strategy

In a recent development, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian addressed the Australian Defense Ministry's allegations regarding China's strategic approach.

During a regular press briefing on Wednesday, Lin Jian emphasized that the Chinese mainland is committed to peaceful development and maintains a defensive defense policy. \"China remains dedicated to fostering peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region and globally, and poses no threat to any nation,\" Lin stated.

This statement follows Australia's unveiling of its first National Defense Strategy, which outlines a \"fundamentally new approach\" to address the country's significant strategic risks. Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles highlighted concerns over what he described as China's \"coercive tactics\" in pursuit of its strategic objectives.

In response, Lin Jian called on Australia to form a correct perception of China's development and strategic intentions. He urged the Australian side to abandon the Cold War mentality and focus on actions that promote regional peace and stability. Lin also pointed out that current security challenges in the Asia-Pacific region primarily stem from certain external powers forming exclusive blocs that lead to confrontations, particularly in the South China Sea.

The exchange underscores the ongoing dialogue between Australia and the Chinese mainland regarding regional security and strategic policies.
