China-Germany Partnership Seen as Global Opportunity, Says Xi

Chinese President Xi Jinping has assured visiting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz that the cooperation between China and Germany represents a significant opportunity rather than a risk. Their meeting in Beijing showed a strong commitment to deepening bilateral ties.

During his three-day visit, Chancellor Scholz traveled to Chongqing and Shanghai, highlighting the interconnectedness of the two nations' industrial and supply chains. President Xi emphasized that mutual cooperation guarantees the stability of bilateral relations and presents future opportunities.

Highlighting key sectors, Xi pointed out the vast potential for win-win cooperation in traditional industries like machinery manufacturing and automobiles, as well as in emerging fields such as green transformation, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. \"China's exports of electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products have not only enriched global supply and alleviated global inflationary pressure but also contributed greatly to the global response to climate change and green and low-carbon transformation,\" he stated.

As the 10th anniversary of the all-round strategic partnership between China and Germany approaches, Xi reflected on the decade of steady growth in bilateral relations despite significant changes in the international landscape. He emphasized the importance of viewing and developing these relations from a long-term strategic perspective, enhancing strategic mutual trust and pursuing win-win cooperation.

Chancellor Scholz echoed this sentiment, noting the strong state of Germany-China relations characterized by close exchanges at all levels. He expressed opposition to protectionism and support for free trade, committing to deepen dialogue and cooperation across various fields, including climate change and green transition.

Collaboration on Multilateral Fronts

Both leaders underscored the shared vision of a multipolar world where diverse civilizations and systems coexist peacefully. They agreed on the necessity of joint efforts to address global challenges such as climate change, unbalanced development, and regional conflicts, striving for greater global stability.

In discussions on international issues like the Ukraine crisis and the Gaza conflict, China advocated for peaceful resolutions and supported the idea of an international peace conference recognized by relevant parties. Both nations committed to maintaining close communication and working together to promote regional peace and stability.
