Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud held phone talks on Monday to address the current situation in the Middle East and to strengthen China-Saudi Arabia relations.
Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed China's appreciation for Saudi Arabia's commitment to resolving issues through diplomatic means. He emphasized China's willingness to collaborate with Saudi Arabia to prevent further escalation of conflicts in the Middle East.
Highlighting Saudi Arabia's importance as a key partner in the region, Wang stated that China is ready to enhance communication and coordination, uphold the significant consensus previously reached by both nations, deepen political mutual trust, and elevate bilateral relations to higher levels.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud conveyed Saudi Arabia's deep concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East and expressed hope for a swift return to normalcy. He noted Saudi Arabia's high expectations for China to play an active and important role in promoting an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, implementing the two-state solution, and achieving stability in the region at the earliest possible date.
Faisal concluded by reaffirming Saudi Arabia's full trust in China and its willingness to advance the sustainable development of bilateral cooperation.
