Xi Jinping’s New Article Highlights Preservation of Chinese Cultural Heritage

On Tuesday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, will publish a significant article focused on preserving and passing on Chinese cultural heritage. This article will appear in the eighth issue of this year’s Qiushi Journal, the CPC Central Committee's flagship magazine.

The forthcoming publication is a compilation of excerpts from Xi's discourses spanning from August 2013 to September 2023. In his article, Xi lauds the long and continuous history of Chinese civilization, emphasizing its role in shaping the great Chinese nation.

Highlighting the importance of cultural relics and heritage, Xi describes these assets as China's \"nonrenewable and irreplaceable\" cultural resources. He underscores the imperative to enhance the protection and utilization of these relics to ensure the preservation and continuation of cultural heritage.

The article calls for systematic efforts to catalog traditional cultural resources and revive relics preserved in closed palaces, vast lands, and ancient texts. Xi stresses the diversity of global civilizations and recognizes China's rich and ancient cultural legacy, which has always valued mutual understanding and respect among different cultures.

Furthermore, Xi advocates for strengthened cultural exchanges with the international community. He emphasizes the importance of the Global Civilization Initiative in providing profound and lasting cultural momentum to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
