Chinese FM Wang Yi Advocates for Development and Cooperation in Asia-Pacific

In a statement that underscores the importance of unity and progress, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the need for development over turbulence in the Asia-Pacific region. \"What the Asia-Pacific needs is development, not turbulence, and the emphasis should be on cooperation, not division,\" Wang Yi stated on Friday.

Wang made these remarks during a pivotal meeting with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, the executive secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Beijing. This meeting highlighted the ongoing dialogue between regional leaders and international organizations aimed at fostering sustainable growth and collaboration.

As a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Wang Yi highlighted the critical role ESCAP plays as the most important regional cooperation mechanism of the UN in the Asia-Pacific region. He lauded the fruitful cooperation between ESCAP and China over the years, emphasizing that continued collaboration is key to addressing the region's challenges and harnessing its potential.
