China Reaffirms Sovereignty Amid Rising South China Sea Tensions

China has firmly asserted its sovereignty over the Nansha Qundao, including Ren'ai Jiao, the Diaoyu Islands, and their adjacent waters, addressing the escalating tensions in the South and East China Seas. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning made these declarations during a regular press briefing on Friday.

Mao responded to U.S. President Joe Biden's initiative to \"deepen maritime and security ties\" with Japan and the Philippines, highlighting the recent summit where these nations opposed China's activities in the disputed waters. She emphasized that China's actions are fully compliant with international law and reiterated the country's commitment to safeguarding its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights.

The spokesperson dismissed the South China Sea arbitration ruling as \"illegal and void,\" maintaining that it does not affect China's territorial claims in any way. Mao criticized non-regional countries for supporting provocative actions at sea, which she claims are driven by a Cold War mentality and bilateral treaties of alliance that undermine regional stability.

China remains dedicated to maintaining peace and stability in the region through dialogue and consultation with directly concerned countries. Mao condemned the interference of non-regional nations in maritime issues, calling their actions outrageous and counterproductive to regional harmony.
