In a move signaling enhanced cooperation, China and the United States have agreed to bolster communication on economic and financial issues. This commitment was announced by China's Ministry of Finance on Monday, highlighting the importance of balanced growth between the two nations and the broader global economy.
The agreement operates under the framework of the China-U.S. economic working group, with both countries pledging to continue exchanges on key areas such as financial stability, sustainable finance, and anti-money laundering through the China-U.S. financial working group.
Looking ahead, the fourth meetings of these working groups are scheduled to take place separately during the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington in mid-April.
Deputy Finance Minister Liao Min briefed the media on U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen's visit to China, noting that discussions with Yellen covered multiple levels and fields, enhancing bilateral economic dialogue.
Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of partnership, stating that China and the U.S. should be partners rather than adversaries. This sentiment underscores the mutual interest in creating a sound environment for two-way trade and investment activities, promoting the healthy and stable development of China-U.S. economic relations.
