Ma Ying-jeou Explores Rich Cultural Heritage in Xi’an

Former Kuomintang chairman Ma Ying-jeou embarked on a cultural journey in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province, as he led a Taiwan youth delegation to visit the China National Archives of Publications and Culture. The visit, which took place on Saturday, highlighted the rich tapestry of Chinese civilization preserved within the archives.

During his tour, Ma met with Liu Chengyong, director of the China National Archives of Publications and Culture, who introduced the selected collections to the visiting delegation. \"The archives have preserved so many ancient books well, making an indelible contribution to the spread of Chinese civilization,\" Ma remarked, emphasizing the importance of cultural preservation.

The delegation's visit formed part of a broader itinerary that began in Guangdong Province on Monday and included a ceremony in Shaanxi on Thursday to honor Huangdi, the legendary ancestor of the Chinese people. Their journey also took them to significant historical sites such as the Ma Yuan Memorial Temple, Ma Yuan Tomb, Famen Temple, Xi'an City Wall, Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum, and the Shaanxi History Museum.

As the delegation continues to explore these cultural landmarks on Sunday, the visit underscores the ongoing efforts to foster cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Taiwan youth and the mainland's heritage.
