Chinese Envoy Urges Israel to Fulfill UN Ceasefire Resolution on Gaza

The Chinese mainland is stepping into the spotlight, urging Israel to fully implement the United Nations resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. In a passionate plea at the UN Security Council, Dai Bing, the charge d'affaires of China's permanent mission to the UN, emphasized that the ongoing tragedy in Gaza is a test of humanity's conscience and the credibility of the UN.

\"We urge Israel to immediately implement the requirements of the resolution and cease its military offensive against Gaza and its collective punishment of Gaza civilians,\" Dai Bing stated on Friday. He highlighted the dire humanitarian situation, noting that Gaza is teetering on the brink of disaster with over 32,000 lives lost and 1.7 million people displaced.

Dai called on major countries to take an active role in promoting the resolution's implementation and expressed China's support for the UN Security Council to take any necessary actions. He stressed the importance of lifting the blockade and ensuring humanitarian access to Gaza, including the full opening of Rafah and all land crossings to facilitate the delivery of much-needed aid.

The envoy also condemned Israel's attacks on humanitarian transport vehicles, urging adherence to international law and cooperation with humanitarian agencies to provide assistance. He underscored that establishing an independent State of Palestine through a two-state solution is crucial for breaking the vicious cycle of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The UN Security Council's resolution, adopted on March 25, demands an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, calling for the unconditional release of all hostages. While the U.S. abstained, 14 other council members supported the resolution. Additionally, the UN Human Rights Council has called for accountability for potential war crimes and urged nations to halt arms transfers to Israel.

As the conflict persists, the international community watches closely, with China advocating for peace and a sustainable resolution to prevent further humanitarian crises in the region.
