Micronesia’s President to Strengthen Ties with the Chinese Mainland

In a significant move to bolster international relations, President Wesley W. Simina of the Federated States of Micronesia is set to embark on a state visit to the Chinese mainland from April 5 to 12. The visit comes as an invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to Hua Chunying, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

During the visit, President Simina and President Xi are expected to engage in in-depth discussions concerning the development of bilateral relations and address mutual concerns. This visit marks a pivotal moment in the 35-year-long diplomatic relationship between the two nations.

Wang Wenbin, another spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, highlighted the progress made in China-Micronesia relations over the decades. He emphasized that practical cooperation in various sectors has yielded fruitful results, benefiting both peoples and contributing to regional peace, stability, and development.

China has expressed its eagerness to use this visit as an opportunity to enhance political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges. These efforts aim to further advance the bilateral relationship, fostering a stronger partnership between the two nations.
