San Francisco Mayor London Breed Heads to China to Foster Economic and Cultural Ties

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has extended a warm welcome to San Francisco Mayor London Breed for her upcoming visit to China next week.

Mayor Breed is set to depart on April 13, embarking on a tour that includes stops in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai—cities that share sister-city relationships with San Francisco. This visit aims to strengthen the bonds between San Francisco and these key Chinese cities.

During her trip, Mayor Breed will engage with leaders in business, innovation, and government sectors to explore new economic opportunities and enhance collaborative efforts. Her meetings are expected to pave the way for increased economic cooperation and cultural exchange between San Francisco and its Chinese counterparts.

Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed optimism about the visit. He emphasized that fostering positive outcomes from this visit could further promote cooperation between San Francisco and China, as well as enhance local exchanges between China and the United States.

Wang highlighted the significance of people-to-people connections in the China-U.S. relationship, noting that its foundation lies in societal interactions, its future depends on the youth, and its vitality is driven by sub-national exchanges. He underscored China's commitment to encouraging diverse interactions between the two nations to build consensus, enhance trust, eliminate interference, and deepen cooperation, ultimately benefiting both peoples.
