In a significant milestone, Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Stéphane Séjourné in Beijing to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France.
Premier Li emphasized that China-France relations are pivotal among China's partnerships with major Western nations. He highlighted the mutual benefits these relations bring to both peoples and their profound impact on global dynamics.
Reflecting on six decades of cooperation, Li expressed China’s commitment to deepening ties with France by implementing key agreements between the two countries. He outlined plans to enhance exchanges at all levels, nurture traditional friendships, and expand cooperation in areas such as green energy, scientific and technological innovation, advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy.
Li also called on France to create an open, fair, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese companies. He advocated for the European Union to adhere to economic and market rules, addressing mutual concerns through constructive dialogue.
Stéphane Séjourné echoed these sentiments, noting the significant impact of France-China relations on both nations and the broader world. He reaffirmed France’s adherence to the one-China policy and expressed a desire to deepen cooperation in economy and trade, environmental protection, artificial intelligence, and people-to-people exchanges.
The leaders underscored the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing international challenges and improving global governance. Both nations, as permanent members of the UN Security Council, expressed their willingness to collaborate on resolving international hotspots and enhancing global stability.
As China and France celebrate this 60th anniversary, the renewed commitment to bilateral relations sets a positive trajectory for future collaboration and global partnership.
