China and Kazakhstan Launch Strategic Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue

In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral ties, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu held the inaugural China-Kazakhstan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue in Beijing on Friday.

Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, emphasized that under the strategic guidance of both nations' leaders, the China-Kazakhstan relationship is set to sustain strong momentum. He highlighted the partnership as a model of mutual trust, support, and assistance among neighboring countries.

The Chinese Foreign Minister reiterated China's commitment to expanding trade with Kazakhstan within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. He called for the joint development of a high-quality, sustainable, and resilient new connectivity corridor, increased people-to-people exchanges, and enhanced cooperation in emerging fields.

Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister Murat Nurtleu affirmed that Kazakhstan prioritizes China in its diplomatic agenda. He expressed strong support for China in safeguarding its core interests related to Taiwan and Xinjiang, and affirmed Kazakhstan's willingness to further strengthen political mutual trust.

Nurtleu also stated that Kazakhstan is open to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, enhancing exchanges between the two peoples, and closely coordinating with China on international and regional affairs.

The dialogue culminated in the establishment of a strategic mechanism between the two countries' foreign ministers. Both sides agreed to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, deepen sub-national and people-to-people exchanges, strengthen efforts against interference and infiltration, upgrade law enforcement and security cooperation comprehensively, and continue to enhance the China-Central Asia mechanism.

Additionally, China and Kazakhstan pledged to support each other in the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and to collaborate closely within multilateral organizations such as the United Nations and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
