Boao Forum for Asia 2024 Concludes with Global Consensus on Sustainability

The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2024 wrapped up successfully on Friday in Boao, a coastal town in China’s island province of Hainan. The event, held from March 26 to 29, gathered around 2,000 delegates from over 60 countries and regions, along with more than 1,100 journalists from nearly 40 nations.

Under the theme \"Asia and the World: Common Challenges, Shared Responsibilities,\" the conference focused on addressing pressing global issues such as the sluggish economic recovery and ongoing regional conflicts. Li Baodong, BFA Secretary General, emphasized at the closing press conference that \"All parties are more aware of the challenges facing the world today. Only by working together can we better handle the challenges.\"

Highlighting the role of Asia in spearheading sustainable development, Li noted that China remains a pillar in the world economy's post-COVID-19 recovery. He underscored that China is advancing high-quality development and further opening up, positioning the country as the largest contributor to global economic growth.

The consensus reached during the conference also highlighted innovation as a key driver for development and called for accelerated global actions on climate change. This aligns with BFA’s mission to promote regional economic integration and support Asian countries in achieving their development goals.

Since its founding in 2001, the Boao Forum for Asia has been instrumental in fostering dialogue and collaboration among Asian nations and beyond, ensuring a cooperative approach to overcoming shared challenges.
