China and Netherlands Strengthen Bilateral Ties in Key Sectors

Chinese Premier Li Qiang held talks with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, on Wednesday in Beijing, vowing to promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral ties.

Li emphasized that since the establishment of the open and pragmatic partnership for comprehensive cooperation between the two nations in 2014, relations have accelerated, marked by fruitful cooperation across various fields, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples.

China expressed its willingness to continue fostering this spirit of open and pragmatic cooperation, aiming for steady development of bilateral relations and achieving more win-win outcomes, said Li.

The Chinese mainland and the Netherlands are both committed to free trade and are set to further open their markets to each other, strengthening practical cooperation. This approach aims to consolidate and deepen bilateral relations, serve the fundamental interests of both peoples, and inject greater stability and certainty into the global landscape.

Li highlighted the expansion of economic and trade cooperation, tapping into potential in artificial intelligence, green transformation, and the silver economy. Additionally, they plan to enhance innovation cooperation in offshore wind power, photovoltaic power generation, and hydrogen energy to drive developments in both countries.

China will continue to foster a market-oriented, law-based, and world-class business environment, welcoming more Dutch businesses to invest in China and encouraging Chinese businesses to invest and develop in the Netherlands. Li also hoped for greater convenience for Chinese residents visiting the Netherlands.

Regarding China-Europe relations, Li affirmed that cooperation should remain the mainstream, with partnership being the correct positioning for both sides. He welcomed Europe to share the opportunities presented by China's mega-scale market and suggested prudence in introducing restrictive economic and trade policies. China is committed to working with the Netherlands to promote sustained, sound, and steady development of China-Europe relations.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte echoed these sentiments, noting that the open and pragmatic partnership has yielded significant results over the years. He expressed that the Dutch side values its friendship with China, adheres to the one-China principle, and is eager to enhance mutual learning, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, deepen cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and collaboratively tackle climate change and other global challenges.
