China and Honduras Celebrate First Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

On Tuesday, China and Honduras marked the first anniversary of their diplomatic ties, reflecting on a year of mutual respect and growing cooperation.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Honduran President Xiomara Castro exchanged congratulations, acknowledging the significant strides made since establishing diplomatic relations in March last year. This milestone opens a new chapter in bilateral relations, fostering stronger connections between the two nations.

During Castro's successful state visit to China in June, both leaders held comprehensive talks, reaching important consensus that has guided the development of their partnership. President Xi emphasized that the principles of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit, and common development have been the foundation of their relationship, ensuring its growth from a strong starting point.

President Xi highly appreciates Honduras's steadfast adherence to the one-China principle, highlighting that the establishment of diplomatic relations aligns with historical trends and serves the fundamental interests of both countries. He expressed his commitment to further developing China-Honduras relations, aiming to consolidate mutual support and expand all-round cooperation in the coming years.

President Castro praised China's rich civilization and its pivotal role in the global landscape, recognizing China as a key partner for Honduras. She commended China's dedication to innovative development, global problem-solving efforts, and significant contributions to poverty reduction worldwide.

Looking ahead, both leaders expressed their desire for a long-lasting friendship between their peoples, committed to fostering a partnership built on independence and mutual respect.
